The True Web

You’ve seen us pushing this new product and technology called "Responsive Web Design" lately. We’re really excited about the amazing things we can do with it. But I want to talk about why “I” am personally excited about it.

The fabric of the web is made up of a massive collection of web pages and their “internet addresses,” or URLs. The web is a place to deliver information about anything and everything, giving anyone with an internet connection access to it regardless of where they are or what device they are using. One of the founders of the web, Sir Tim Berners-Lee said:

“It should be accessible from any kind of hardware that can connect to the Internet: stationary or mobile, small screen or large.”

Yet, for as long as I can remember, we (the common web designer) have been making websites at an “acceptable width” of the common desktop user’s screen.

Up until the popularization of the smart phone and tablet, we got away with not caring about other devices. How often have you browsed your favorite website on your new iPhone, only to find the site completely unusable? We can no longer ignore this!

Responsive Web Design came just in time to save the web in this age of the smart phone and tablet. It gives us the ability to serve all of our clients’ content to their customers, regardless of the device they are using. Using the same technology, we are also future-proofing the web for anything else the technology industry may throw at us. To paraphrase Trent Walton, “Our websites will meet you wherever you are.” I find it absolutely thrilling that I can load up a website that I’ve created on any of my coworkers devices, and it looks just as beautiful as it does on my 27” Apple display.

Help fix the Internet by making your website responsive for your customers! Call us. We can’t wait to create a custom solution for your business.
